WELCOME TO LIUC

The University
LIUC is a young, independent, state recognised university that has developed rapidly since its establishment in 1991.
It was founded on the initiative of the Industrial Association of the Province of Varese (UNIVA) and it was immediately recognised for the close relationship it has with the business world.
Today its three Faculties - Economics, Engineering and Law - are open to a limited number of students (about 3,000 in total). All courses are interdisciplinary with cross-faculty teaching in order to provide students with a broad based education and overall understanding of the different business functions.
The main objective underpinning all university courses is to prepare professionals for a successful career in an increasingly complex and competitive environment both at home and abroad.

Our Name
Convinced that the global challenge can be won only with highly prepared human resources, the  University was named after Carlo Cattaneo, a nineteenth century local thinker and economist whose philosophy placed human intelligence and willpower alongside the three elements of classic economics  - raw materials, capital and labour - thus putting the entrepreneur at the  very heart of the economic process.

Internationalisation
The University is committed to a policy of internationalisation as an integral part of its education policy and has been active in international programmes since the very early years.
It has active links with universities all over the world and teaches part of its programmes in English.
