Learning Objectives

Italian level 1  for beginner students

This course is designed for all beginners who have not had a previous exposure to Italian language.

Italian level 1 for Advanced students

The course is intended for students who have never studied Italian language but speaking languages of Latin origin or for students who have already had a few lessons in Italian.

Learning targets

Italian Level 1 for beginner Students

Achievement of level A1 Level of the common European framework of reference: A.L.T.E.

To understand and use everyday expressions and very basic phrases aimed to satisfy the concrete needs.

To introduce yourself and others and to be able to ask questions and to answer concerning personal information such as where you live, people you know and things you possess.

To interact in a simple way if the other person talks slowly and clearly and is ready  to cooperate.

Italian Level 1 for advanced Students

Achievement of level A2 Level of the common European framework of reference: A.L.T.E.

To understand and to use everyday expressions and very basic phrases aimed to satisfy concrete needs.

To introduce oneself and others and to be able to ask and to answer questions about personal information such as where you live, people you know and things that you possess.
To be able to communicate in simple and routine tasks requiring a simple and direct exchange of information on familiar and routine matters. To be able to describe in simple terms aspects of your life, the surrounding environment; express the immediate needs.

Course Content

Italian Level 1 for beginner Students

GRAMMATICAL ASPECTS:

  • Simple present of the auxiliary verbs to be and to have, of regular and irregular verbs (for the latter only the most used)
  • Personal pronouns subject
  • Nouns and adjectives ending with -o/a
  • Nouns and adjectives ending with -e
  • Determinate and indeterminate articles
  • Possessive adjectives and pronouns
  • Interrogative pronouns
  • Cardinal and ordinal numbers
  • Present perfect of the auxiliary verbs to be and to have, of regular and irregular verbs

LEXICAL ASPECTS:

  • Alphabet
  • Countries, nationalities
  • Time, meals, weekdays, months, seasons, part of the day
  • Human body and description of persons, clothes
  • Family, railway station. 

The lexicon comprises approximately 300/350 words

SOCIO-CULTURAL ASPECTS

  • How to introduce oneself
  • How to introduce other people
  • How to greet
  • How to accept or refuse an invitation
  • How to ask time and thank
  • Likes and dislikes
  • How to ask for information
  • How to converse formal and uninformed

 

Italian Level 1 for advanced Students

GRAMMATICAL ASPECTS:

  • Simple present of the auxiliary verbs to be and to have, of regular and irregular verbs
  • Personal pronouns subject
  • Nouns and adjectives ending with -o/a
  • Nouns and adjectives ending with -e
  • Determinate and indeterminate articles
  • Possessive adjectives and pronouns
  • Cardinal numbers and ordinals, hours
  • Present perfect of the auxiliary verbs to be and to have, of regular and irregular verbs
  • Personal pronouns object
  • Pronoun “Ne”
  • Indicative Future of regular and irregular verbs 

LEXICAL ASPECTS:

  • Alphabet
  • Countries, nationalities
  • Colours and description of objects
  • Time, weekdays, months, seasons,  part of the day
  • Meals, food, restaurant
  • Human body and description of persons, clothes
  • Family
  • House, shops ,travel 

The lexicon comprises approximately 300/350 words

SOCIO-CULTURAL ASPECTS

  • How to introduce oneself
  • How to introduce other people
  • How to greet
  • How to make and to  accept or refuse an invitation
  • How to ask time
  • Likes and dislikes
  • At the shop, at the station
  • How to ask and offer help
  • How to make plans in the future
  • How to tell in the past
  • How to tell a project

Course Delivery

Italian Level 1 for beginner Students

Students will be given the course material to use in class and for homework.

The lessons are based on a communicative approach and on everyday life situations.

The schemes and basic language structures will be highlighted so that students can acquire a basic knowledge of the language.

Lessons will be held in Italian and only if necessary, the teacher will give explanations in English.

Classes usually have a duration of two hours with a short break .

Students are required to consult the website of the University "my liuc.it" to know the schedule of classes and the classroom number.

The course has  mandatory attendance

 

Italian Level 1 for advanced Students

The course is mandatory frequency

Course Evaluation

Italian Level 1 for beginner Students and for advanced Students

Final mark (maximum) 30 based on:

20% = rated maximum 6

Frequency = rated maximum 2

For participation = rated maximum 2

Intermediate Test = rated maximum 2 = 10 item, each error =-0.2

20% oral exam = rated maximum 6

Oral presentation with votes = 0-1-2-3-4-5-6

60% written examination = rated maximum 18 = 9 exercises (10 item for each exercise) every error =-0.2

You cannot consult dictionaries or other texts during exams.
