Learning Objectives

The aim of the course is to acquire the skills necessary to apply some basic techniques to design the quality of products and industrial production processes and to control design specifications.

Teaching will bring students in the conditions to know:

1) to analyze the relational aspects of quality management

2) to identify behavioral strategies to address the relational dimension of quality processes

3) to develop personal approaches to handling non-technical issues

Learning targets

Students will have gained the ability to analyze the quality of products and production processes, measure results, and compare alternative solutions with different levels of quality.

Students will be able to understand what business functions, using which disciplines, will directly and indirectly contribute to quality management. They will therefore be able to identify their own needs for experience and for their knowledge deepening to be able to deal with their professional lives independently and with a solid foundation.

Course Content

The aim of the course is to provide the elements for setting up and discussing the issue of quality management in the design phases and, subsequently, in order to comply with the specifications of a project. Techniques for product design and process design and results measurement will be presented.

The course is complemented by works in which quality is presented as a guideline in business management and in the behaviors of the various people engaged in different roles in delivering quality goals. The main theoretical body is the Eric Berne's Time Use Model

Course Delivery

The didactic methodology includes:
Frontal lessons with the presentation of techniques, models and theories
Exercises for applying the techniques presented
Discussion of real cases
Analysis of audiovisual exemplifying
Discussion between students in the diagnostic phases

Course Evaluation

Examination is subject to a written test. During the course  the solution of case studies, if resolved even in small groups, will be able to compete for the formulation of the final vote.
