Learning Objectives

“Whenever a company designs a new product, service, or experience, it is essentially designing its business”

 

In today’s economy and social conditions, if a business want to succeed, it needs to innovate, while balancing the feasibility of its business model with the real needs and aspirations of people to offer products and services that have an impact in their lives. Entrepreneurs, hence, must unlock their creative potential, and place their customers at the center of their start-up process to understand their actual needs and aspirations to design breakthrough business soutions that create value for users and disrupt the market.

Entrepreneurship by Design is project-based course with an intensive practical hands-on experience of a typical entrepreneurial journey in which students follows a business design approach, apply the concepts of design thinking, business model innovation and storytelling to identify hidden business opportunities and design and test new business models for an innovative start-up.

This course provides students with the right tools to solve unmet customer problems, design new products and services, and develop their ideas into action.

Learning targets

Students will be able to unlock their creative potential and use the business design approach to identify and exploit hidden business opportunities.

To understand the behavior, needs and desires of your potential customers and users and design products and services that match their expectations.

To Indentify and uncover the right information, trends and insights of an industry.

To Build prototypes and design market validation tests.

To design an innovative, scalable and sustainable business model.

To design a brand identity and develop a powerful story that resonates in the market.

Course Delivery

Students work in teams on their own startup ideas and should interact with customers to validate and refine their business idea.

Students will also attend lectures, outside visits and practical exercises.

Course Evaluation

All students must complete and present the course workbook "Entrepreneurship by Design: Business Design tools for Strategy and Innovation" with validated innovative entrepreneurial idea and rapid prototype

Attending students:

Mid-Revision: 30%

Final Pitch: 60%

Class Participation: 10%

Non Attending Students:

Individial final pitch, workbook completition and rapid prototype presentation
