Aim of the course
The course equips students with the fundamental tools of business finance necessary for understanding the problems of financial management, and for coordinating financial decisions with those affecting other activities of the firm.
Syllabus
1. The firm and the financial market
- Financial decisions of firms and role of the financial market.
- The actors on the financial markets.
 
2. Financing of firms
- Debt capital: traditional instruments (bank loans, subsidised credit, bonds) and hybrid instruments (participatory loans).
- Debt capital: the actors.
- Debt capital: evaluation of the firm being financed and the Basel 2 criteria.
- Own capital: instruments (capital increases and stock market listing).
- Own capital: the actors (private equity players, venture capitalists, incubators, banks, public subjects).
- Own capital: evaluation of the firm being financed.
Examinations
There will be a written examination.
