A83525 Sustainable Economic Policy and Management

At the end of the course the student will be able:

1. to collect and elaborate hard data and factual information regarding the economic dimension of the critical global issues such as environmental change, climate uncertainty, natural resource scarcity, waste disposal, public health, conflicts and international security, and human vulnerability;
2. to assess the local economic implications of global dynamics in a few sample human habitats in Africa, Americas, Asia and Europe (extreme lands, marginal areas, rural contexts, urban realities);
3. to conduct strategic foresight exercise (based on global and local uncertainties) and to explore various possible scenarios (alternative images of future) of local economic realities (firm, sector, territory, town, region, country, trade block, monetary zone…);
4. to imagine hypothetic solutions for the benefit of local economic realities (communities) as well as of the world-system (humanity), to face the sustainability challenges.
